• HOW DO WE HIRE YOU?
When you're ready to book Schaefer Photography, please reach out and let us know! We'll work to find a day that fits everyone's schedule. Once we settle on a date, you'll pay a non-refundable retainer fee to secure your date. The rest of your payment will be due by the shoot date. On the rare occasion Schaefer Photography needs to postpone your shoot due to inclement weather, your retainer fee will be applied to the new date.
• ARE WE WELCOME HERE?
Absolutely - Everyone is welcome! Schaefer Photography takes great pride in being an open and inclusive business. If you want your picture taken, we want to take it.
• WHAT'S YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?
The turnaround depends on the season, our travel schedule, and the holidays. Typically, most sessions take 2 weeks or less and weddings take about 7-8 weeks. We try to get them back to you as soon as possible while making sure you get the quality of work that we would expect of our own images.
• DO YOU DELIVER RAW FILES?
We do not. Without the post-production retouching and color grading that goes into each image they would not represent our work. We promise you'll always get the best photos from your shoot and if you feel like we missed delivering an image we shot, just ask! Especially during the busy months, there's always a chance we might have missed something, so we are happy to double check.
• WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT TO OUR WEDDING?
We hope this never happens! But if it did, we would do our best to help find a replacement photographer who we trust with a similar style, although we're not legally responsible to do so. If we can’t make it to your wedding, your money will be refunded, including the non-refundable deposit minus the cost of an engagement shoot if one was provided by Schaefer Photography. An example for this happening would be something out of our control (Covid-19, Illness, Death, Act of God, etc.)
• WHAT IF THERE'S BAD WEATHER
We always encourage embracing whatever weather comes our way, as it’s something unique and beautiful to make your photos special. With that said, if it is crappy enough that it would ruin our gear, wash us away or your family might melt, we'll find a better day for everyone :)
• DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS
We do not, but we do offer occasional mini sessions. Please keep an eye on our social media for these special sessions with limited available time slots.
• DO YOU HELP WITH THE PLANNING PROCESS?
We'd love to help where ever we can! We've shot lots of weddings, we've been in weddings, we've had a baby, we know lots of people with babies and we've read stuff on the internet. Let us know what you need help with, if you need recommendations, and if there’s anything we can do to make the process easier for you!
• HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU SHOOT EACH YEAR?
We average 1-2 weddings a month.
• WHO WILL WE WORK WITH ON OUR SHOOT?
Scott will generally shoot everything with or without an assistant except for weddings. Scott and Shannon work closely together on your wedding day to make sure everything is captured perfectly and the day goes off without a hitch...well, at least one couple gets hitched!
• HOW MANY IMAGES WILL WE GET?
Most shoots receive between 20-30 images. Headshots get one fully retouched image. Weddings get a lot more. Like several. We want to make sure we tell the full story of your important day. There's not a set number because every wedding is different but we've never had any client say they didn't get enough. Rest assured, you'll get the best photos from the shoot so nothing dilutes the great memories of the day :)
• CAN I SEE A FULL GALLERY OF YOUR WORK?
Sure! Social media does a decent job of conveying everything that happens during a wedding day if you search long enough but we'd be more than happy to show you full galleries so you know what to expect from us while documenting your wedding day.
